Edmonton Running Club is based in Enfield at Hazelwood Sports Club on Ridge Avenue, Winchmore Hill. The club was originally founded in 1981 and is fully affiliated and aligned to the standards set by England Athletics. We are a friendly and inclusive club, catering for a broad range of running abilities and experience in our training. We all share a passion for running, but more importantly are there to support each other, have fun and help members achieve and celebrate their goals.
We meet every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday for varied training sessions which are organised with the support of our qualified England Athletics Run Leaders. Typically, on Tuesdays we meet at 7:00pm and our runs consist of a choice of 5km and 10km routes, with pace groups between 7:30 and 12:00 minutes per mile. On Thursdays, again we meet at 7:00pm and we do more training-based sessions such as speed or hill repeats (and once a month have use of the QEII athletics track). Finally, on Sundays we meet at 9:00am in Whitewebbs for trail runs, with the opportunity also to join groups running further as part of training for long distance events.
After all that training, we love to race! Edmonton RC participates in local leagues, giving members the chance to represent the club in road racing and cross-country events. We also hold a summer 5k series and an annual track mile event - all of which are included in the membership price. Club members participate in all manner of races from 5k’s up to ultramarathons and everything in between, plus increasingly multi-sports disciplines.
The club also makes a significant contribution to the local running community, staging its own 10k race each year called ‘Run the River’. Members have the opportunity to volunteer, helping to create a wonderful community atmosphere and experience for the participants. Annually the club volunteers at major running events, such as the London Marathon, Big Half and Vitality 10k, where we take on baggage handling duties. We are also actively involved in a number of the local parkruns, supporting with volunteering and pacing events. Outside of running, the club has recently supported the Enfield Food Bank over the Christmas period by packing groceries.
We welcome new members to join our exciting and growing club and get involved with our sessions around the Enfield area, and our active social calendar. Why not come down for a free introductory session or find out more about our sessions and membership benefits on our club website. We'd love to have you running with us!
